“The die is set way before we get to the racing,” Wheatley wrote on his latest Rule69 blog. “This is the end of the cycle, not the beginning. In just a few short months time, we will have a winner and that winner will be Team New Zealand. No question. Easiest victory since Russ aced the Hula. “And bear in mind, we haven’t even seen the best of Team New Zealand yet. They are winning by 30 seconds to over a minute at cruise pace.

America s Cup first official practice “They are higher and faster upwind, and lower and faster downwind. You can’t get close to these guys and the ‘TEAM’ is rock solid. It’s what has impressed me most, they look like a team, they act like a team, they win like a team. They are a machine. An awesome killing machine.

INEOS Team UK has hit back after their new America s Cup boat was slammed in a brutal blog post by a British pundit.
The boat is currently being worked on after damaging its mast and missing the first two days of practice racing ahead of next week s World Series and Christmas Cup regattas.
Britannia is put through its paces on Auckland s Waitemata Harbour.
Sir Ben Ainslie’s new America’s Cup boat has been labelled “the lamest of ducks” in a damning summation on the eve of proper racing. British pundit Magnus Wheatley has delivered a brutal blog on Ainslie’s chances as the INEOS Team UK boat sits behind closed doors being desperately worked on after missing the first two days of official practices. Wheatley likened it to the feeling of the midweek club racers who regularly experience “the utterly deflating feeling of hauling a boat that is at least two clicks slower around a racecourse”.
