Vine City group walks neighborhood to stop violence

ATLANTA - The Vine City community is taking its own approach to stopping violent crime.
About a dozen people gathered at the Magnolia Park Community Center on Wednesday evening. Enough is enough, said Bishop John Lewis who organized the event.
They walked around the neighborhood until 11 p.m. and said they want neighbors to know they care. Our lives matter and the lives of the people in our beloved community matter, Bishop Lewis said.

A vigil on May 18, 2021, was held for Alicia Merrell who was killed along Magnolia Way two days prior.
ATLANTA - The family of an Atlanta murder victim held a vigil Tuesday night to celebrate her life.
Friends and loved ones filled the streets to pay tribute to Alicia Merrell.
Merrell s mother, Atlanta City Councilman Michael Julian Bond, and an organizer of the vigil all spoke. I m a mother of six, and I didn t think my kids could do no wrong and get killed, her mother said.

ATLANTA Atlanta Police need help finding a 12-year-old who they said ran away on Tuesday.
Police are looking for Aniyah Smith.
They said she was last seen on May 18 in the 700 block of Magnolia Way between 11 and 11:30 a.m.
Smith was wearing a black shirt, black sweat pants, and a Puma bookbag. She is about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 125 pounds.
Anyone with information that can help locate Smith is asked to contact the police.

Atlanta police search for missing 12-year-old girl

ATLANTA - Police in Atlanta are searching for a missing 12-year-old girl.
Aniyah Smith was last seen on Tuesday morning a little before 11:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Magnolia Way, the Atlanta Police Department said.
Smith is described by police as being 5-feet-3-inches tall, weighing about 125 pounds, with brown eyes, and black hair in an afro-puff. She was last seen wearing a black shirt with Top Gun on it, black sweat pants, and a Puma book bag.
Smith is considered a runaway.
Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 or the Atlanta Police Departments Special Victims Unit at 404-546-4260.
Multiple shootings occur hours apart in metro Atlanta

Police confirmed at least six shootings in a matter of hours in Atlanta.
ATLANTA - Police confirmed since 10 p.m. on Saturday there have been at least six shootings overnight in Atlanta.
At Azule Restaurant and Lounge in Buckhead, police were still on-scene at 9 a.m. on Monday investigating a shooting where they say a man was shot and found dead.
The shooting is part of a string of violence in the Atlanta area, to which Atlanta Police Department units have responded in a matter of hours.
