Speed Fibre Group’s Claire Murphy discusses developments in the telecoms sector, getting more women into leadership, and dealing with ‘death by Teams’.
Claire Murphy is group general counsel, company secretary and head of shared services at Speed Fibre Group. She joined the company more than two years ago, having previously held senior roles at Arthur Cox, Philip Lee, EirGrid and First Data.
Speed Fibre Group is an investment vehicle owned by the Irish Infrastructure Fund that is focused on telecoms infrastructure. At the end of last year, Magnet Networks joined Enet and AirSpeed Telecom as part of the group, which employs more than 200 people in Ireland.
When John Delves quietly updated his LinkedIn profile last week, just hours before a press release was to be issued to announce his new job, he may well have breathed a sigh.
The sigh might have been one of relief that a challenging year in his career was finishing on a high, with his appointment as managing director of Magnet Networks.
But there would have been sadness too. His brother Colm - who passed away in April and who had always been an inspiration to his younger sibling - was not there to share the moment.
The new Magnet boss has a naturally positive approach to life. He talks of his brother - who was CEO of Denis O Brien s Digicel for 13 years - with a proud smile and he outlines the new challenge ahead in his own career with eager anticipation.
Magnet Networks has appointed John Delves as its managing director.
The appointment of the former Digicel CEO follows the recent acquisition of the company by Speed Fibre Group, an Irish investment vehicle focused on telecoms infrastructure.
Magnet provides connectivity for some of the world’s biggest tech companies as well as to the commercial and residential markets.
Mr Delves spent over a decade at CEO level with Digicel in the Pacific and Caribbean, implementing two successful greenfield launches in Vanuatu and Fiji.
“John is the ideal person to further develop Magnet Networks’ range of customer-focused solutions and drive best-in-class customer satisfaction for its large client base,” said Speed Fibre Group CEO, Peter McCarthy.
