Car mirror manufacturer SMR Automotive is demanding rival Magna Mirrors cover its legal bill for a patent dispute, claiming Magna brought a weak case to trial and aimed to "inflict as much pain as possible" over six years of litigation in Michigan federal court.
Auto parts company Magna Mirrors told a Michigan jury Wednesday not to let its rival in the car mirror market "dodge responsibility" for infringing Magna's mirror patents by shipping manufacturing overseas, urging the jury to find SMR Automotive liable for inducing auto companies' infringement as deliberations begin after a weeklong trial.
