U.S. judge approves $2.95M settlement of overtime pay dispute involving Love’s Travel Stops
Updated Feb 25, 2021;
A federal judge in Harrisburg has approved a $2.95 million settlement in an overtime pay dispute that will benefit hundreds of current and former employees of Love’s Travel Stops in 40 states.
The deal sanctioned by U.S. Middle Magistrate Judge Martin C. Carlson is expected to generate average payments of $3,627 to operations managers who claimed they were improperly classified as being exempt from overtime pay.
The settlement marks the end of a battle launched in 2017 by four former operations managers who sued the Oklahoma-based firm. Love’s officials denied any violations.
Woman accused of involvement in Pelosi laptop theft during Capitol riot released to home confinement
Riley Williams, 22, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been charged with violent entry or disorderly conduct, entering the restricted space of the Capitol, obstructing or impeding an official proceeding as well as aiding and abetting the theft of government property. She was arrested on Monday.
She will remain at home with electronic monitoring, is ordered not to communicate with possible co-defendants and has travel restrictions.
In an amended court filing, prosecutors allege that Williams appears to have filmed a gloved hand lifting a laptop off a table in the Capitol on January 6. Authorities do not allege that she stole the device.
Because of the possibility of new charges, Magistrate Judge Martin C. Carlson decided to wait for the ruling in D.C. before he could hold a detention hearing. That's scheduled for Thursday morning.
