Third suspect in RM300,000 bribery case remanded

SHAH ALAM (Bernama): An Indian national who was a work permit agent for foreign nationals, is being remanded for six days to facilitate the investigation on a bribery case involving a sum of RM300,000. He is believed to have received a portion of the amount from an individual allegedly to help release 22 Chinese nationals detained at an immigration depot. The remand order from Thursday (March 11) until Tuesday (March 16) was issued by magistrate Ellyna Othman at the court here following an application made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). An MACC source said the suspect, aged 51, who for more than 10 years had been a work permit agent for foreign nationals, was arrested at the MACC office on Wednesday (March 10).
