Police drag man to court over abduction of a four-year-old boy

A 38-year-old man, Idowu Odedoyin has been arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly abducting a 4-year-old boy.
The accused person who pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of peace allegedly committed the offence on February 14, 2021, around 6:30 pm. at Ijaodola area in Modakeke-Ife.
The prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adesina, told the court that the accused person conspired with others still at large to commit the assault.
He added that the accused person conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by invading the area forcefully and taking the boy, which caused pandemonium in the area.

Unknown gunmen have killed four police officers at a checkpoint at Ayanmbat community near Idundu in the Aka Efa area in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident which happened at about 1 pm on Thursday, have created panic in the area.
The policemen whose identities are yet to be disclosed were said to have been killed while resting at the location.
When contacted for confirmation, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo told DAILY POST that the Police Command had arrested five suspects in connection with the crime.

In his judgment, Magistrate Abiona Adebayo, of an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court convicted the man for stealing.
The convict who was charged for stealing pleaded guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, Magistrate Adebayo said, “I will take into consideration the plea of the allocutus (Mrs Innocental Akhigbe) made on behalf of the accused person to the effect that the accused person has an aged mother, a wife and children to fend for and that he is sober and remorseful now.
“I will also take into consideration the fact that the accused person has not wasted the precious time of the court by simply admitting his guilt.
