Thane: On Monday, when a blue-coloured helicopter landed in a cloud of dust in an open ground in Vadpe village near Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, virtually the entire village ran out to gawk at it and welcome its owner Janardhar Bhoir.
Bhoir, 55, a down-to-earth farmer-cum-builder-cum-entrepreneur, but with high-flying ambitions, has invested in a chopper to help manage his businesses spread across several cities and states in western and northwest India.
“I belong to farming family. A few years ago, I entered the realty business constructing huge warehouses which are in great demand in this region, and later diversified into the dairy business also,” Bhoir told IANS, as his mobile phone kept ringing incessantly.

GSB Wadala s 18 inch idol
MUMBAI: Preparations are afoot to celebrate the festival of Lord Ganesh s birth or Maghi Ganeshotsav which falls Monday, February 15.
Aside from mandals which regularly install idols this time of year, a clutch of mainstream mandals which could not organise Bhadrapad Ganeshotsav 2020 amid the Covid-19 lockdown are also planning short celebrations. The number of households and mandals who will celebrate Maghi will rise this year as they seek to make up for the cancellation of Ganeshotsav last August-September, said Naresh Dahibawkar, chairman of the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti.
As with previous festivals like Christmas, the guidelines from the state government arrived as late as February 9, by which time the mandals had already made their plans.
