Over 6 crore devotees and pilgrims visited Sangam during the 54-days Magh Mela this year. Figures released by Magh Mela police claimed that the highest number of 2.76 crore devotees took holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya that was observed on February 8 and 9 of this year.

Commissioner also felicitated as many as 80 policemen ranking from constables to Deputy IG rank official for their contribution to conduct the annual religious fair successfully and incident free.
Over 400 personnel of jal police and PAC (flood control) worked tirelessly to safeguard lives of pilgrims and devotees who arrived at the banks of Ganga and saved around 70 devotees from drowning during 54 days of Magh Mela.
