Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Thursday said a 190 km long tunnel has been proposed to ease traffic congestion in Bengaluru and within 45 days, the state government will be inviting public tenders for it.
Those opposing the levy argue that Karnataka already has one of the highest road taxes in the country. They have also expressed frustration over delays in completing the metro and the suburban rail projects, and said the development of an efficient public transport system should be prioritised before implementing such taxes.
