Is it finally over?
The Des Moines Symphony will perform the last livestreamed show of its 2020-21 “Live from the Temple” season, titled Fantaisie en Français, at 7 p.m. Thursday.
There s one more virtual show, the annual Yankee Doodle Pops, on July 2 before the symphony resumes performances with a live audience with its Water Works Pops shows at Lauridsen Amphitheater in September.
After that, the hope is to stage a 2021-22 season post-pandemic style. That means a careful return to in-person audiences, said symphony spokeswoman Megan Helmers. Following our in-person concerts at Water Works Park on Labor Day weekend, our goal is to launch our 84th Season at the Civic Center in September 2021, Helmers said in an email. We hope to have more details to announce sometime in June, including concert dates, repertoire, guest artists, and health and safety protocols for audiences.
