The exhibit even includes woodchips covering the ground and embers projection mapped onto burned logs, making visitors feel as if they really were in the middle of a forest set ablaze.
Turpin said the woodchips were provided by the Montecito Fire Protection District wood chipping program, in which chipping services for shrubs and tree limbs are provided to residents by Montecito Fire contractors in order to prevent fires.
The embers were recorded and carefully projection-mapped onto the logs and the woodchips ground by Jonathan Smith with The Environment Makers, who collaborated closely with Turpin on the multimedia design of the exhibit.
