Mae Catabay, who attends St George’s School, has been playing chess since the age of five. She has now competed in a tournament called the Queen’s Blitz Festival where players were allowed just three minutes and two seconds to make each move. Mae contested 22 games against girls of all ages and although she managed to win fewer than half of them, her father and coach Michael Catabay said he was pleased with how she performed. “I managed to watch all the games, and I think there were just two games out of the 22 where she actually played badly,” he said.
