UNESCO Grants World Heritage Status to Madrid’s Paseo del Prado and Retiro Park
MADRID UNESCO added Madrid’s historic Paseo del Prado boulevard and Retiro Park to its list of world heritage sites on Sunday.
The tree-lined Paseo del Prado, in the center of the Spanish capital, is home to the Prado museum, while Retiro Park, just off the Paseo del Prado, is one of the city’s most visited attractions.
“I think it’s wonderful, it’s part of Spain’s heritage that we have to value,” said Eloy Moreno, 31, who was walking along the Paseo del Prado on Sunday afternoon.

Madrid, May 9 (EFE).- Germany’s Alexander Zverev on Sunday reconquered the Madrid Open tennis tourney that he had won three years ago, defeating Matteo Berrettini 6-7(10), 6-4 and 6-3.
The Hamburg player, seeded fifth and one of the key figures in the so-called “Next Gen” group of tennis stars, secured the trophy on solid play over the two hours and 42 minutes of his confrontation with his Italian rival, with the match oscillating back and forth right up until the final stretch, when Berrenetti seemed to deflate and Zverev took advantage of the collapse to seal the win.
