The Uttarakhand government on Saturday demanded four additional companies of central paramilitary forces to maintain law and order situation in Haldwani where violence erupted a few days ago during an anti-encroachment drive.
Internet services continue to be suspended to prevent rumours from spreading through social media platforms. However, the residents of the Banbhoolpura area, where the curfew is still in force, are being allowed to buy essentials from time to time, Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Law and Order, AP Anshuman, said.
