Four Student Representative Council members from the Durban University of Technology Midlands campuses have graduated and three from Durban will graduate this week.
Students demanding free registration and accommodation have erupted into sporadic protests at Durban University of Technology (DUT) and University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
Speaking before the higher education committee on recent protests on the campus, the university’s management said the damage still needed to be quantified, but criminal cases had been opened.
University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Nana Poku has referred to the student protests that have been taking place in that institution as “organised crime”, and not related to legitimate student issues.
