Equity a priority in 2021, Willoughby mayor says, as Lake County communities address racial disparities

Before equity across the board — gender, racial, ageism and so forth, is reached, it still has a long way to go, says Willoughby Mayor Robert Fiala.  We re making a commitment to fix that and it s something that s probably going to take a lot longer time than what I m going to be in office, he said. If we start the discussions now, then maybe in the near future, we re going to see some progress made with equity. The city has an obligation to do its best to make a difference with equity across the board, Fiala said. - Advertisement - I think it needs to start with discussion and we need to get comfortable with each other, and we need to be comfortable enough with each other to have open and candid discussion, he said.
