SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA (WECT) - The first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center on Thursday.
NHRMC’s initial shipment of the vaccine consists of 2,925 doses while Brunswick Novant received 975.
Vaccine also arrived at @NovantHealth Brunswick Medical Center, and they vaccinated the first staff there this afternoon, with the first being Madison Valenza, a Critical Care CNA.
She told me she was honored to be the first, and is excited about what this means.

Novant Health received its first batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Thursday. The first injections went to health workers at Novant facilities in Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Bolivia in Brunswick County.

Novant Health received its first batch – approximately 7,000 doses – of the Food and Administration-approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19. North Carolina is responsible for determining supply distribution and Novant Health has enough freezers to store at least 500,000 doses. Staff underwent extensive training as well as a day of mock distribution and administration while first front-line health care workers received the vaccine.
