HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - In December, more than 66,000 Americans died from COVID-19, making this month the deadliest month so far in the pandemic.
Both Moderna and Pfizer’s vaccines have been distributed to front line workers across the country, but experts expect a drastic surge following the holidays.
System wide, there are a little shy of 500 inpatients within the Huntsville Hospital Health System. There are 242 inpatients in Madison County. That’s up 30 inpatients over the last two weeks with more than 100 employees in quarantine.

UPDATE: Huntsville Hospital received doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday.
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is here in Huntsville! The vaccine arriving at Huntsville International Airport around 7 Tuesday morning through Fed EX.
The doses are being prepped for administering to frontline healthcare workers beginning Wednesday. In the meantime, the vaccine is safely stored in those large ultra-cold refrigerators.
Nine months after the first reported case of COVID-19 in Huntsville, the Rocket City has its first allotment of the Pfizer vaccine.
