Fort Madison man sentenced to 40 years in prison for invasion of privacy, sexual abuse of a minor

Fort Madison, IA- A Fort Madison man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor and invasion of privacy. According to a news release, 51-year-old Charles Dean Meyer of Fort Madison was sentenced Friday, March 24th, to 40 years in the Iowa Department of corrections for invasion of privacy and sexual abuse of a minor. Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff said that Meyer was the suspect in a two-year investigation into the placing of concealed cameras in the women's restroom of a restaurant in Fort Madison, where Meyer worked, as well as the sexual abuse of a minor. The 40-year sentence was the maximum allowed under the conditions of the plea agreement reached in the case. Following his prison term, Meyer will be placed on lifetime parole and will be required to register as a sex offender.

Police still searching for missing Fort Madison man

Fort Madison, IA- Police in Fort Madison, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are still searching for a Fort Madison man who went missing in February of 2022. TV Station WGEM reports that 36-year-old Christopher Golliher of Fort Madison was last seen on February 1st, 2022, at his residence in the 2000 block of Avenue E. in Fort Madison. Police say Golliher was reported missing several days later by a family member. Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff said that all leads have been exhausted after about a year of searching, and authorities are asking the public for assistance in their search. Police are asking property owners in the Fort Madison area to search accessible areas and building for anything that could be considered evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Madison Police Department Detective Bureau at 319-372-2525 ext. 211.
