Constitution, and weve had such an exciting morning. Weve heard from ken burns and lynn novak, interviewed by David Rubenstein about their new vietnam documentary. We heard from the plaintiffs in the brown versus board of education korematsu and tinker cases. Their descendants came to talk about their experiences in those crucial cases. And now were going to hear about what every american should know about the Constitutional Convention and the founding documents from the person in america whos done more to increase Public Awareness of those documents than anyone else. David rubenstein has had an extraordinary career. Early on in washington, he worked as chief counsel for the Senate Judiciary committee under senator birch bah, and i want to take a moment to honor senator bey, whos about to turn 90

We have to make sure that because nowhere in history have powerful governments seeded power back to the people. We need to make sure thats available to the american people. So they put this second component into article 5, which allows the states two thirds of the states to call an Amendments Convention. Its not a Constitutional Convention, but its an Amendments Convention where the states can offer amendments which are nothing but recommendations that

That on the 69 year diary John Quincy Adams kept. Matthew mason is here to talk about his book, John Quincy Adams and the politics of slavery did. This book was recently hailed by the Washington Times is a great read and an informative reality check on issues that affect us even now. Matthew mason is an associate professor of history at Brigham Young university. He holds a phd in history from the university of maryland and has been at the you why you since 2003. Has been a Brigham Young since 2003. ,e has many publications including a political biography of edward everett. He has coedited several volumes. David walstreisser is a distinguished professor. He is hey a historian of early 19thcentury america and his interest span political history, slavery, and antislavery. His books include, slaverys runawayion. America.
