There has been more vandalism reported in and near downtown Edwardsville. This time, several tires were slashed early Wednesday morning on vehicles at the Madison County Criminal Justice Center, Juvenile Detention Center, and at Edwardsville Public Works. Police believe it may be the same person who committed similar crimes a few weeks ago.
At that time, several tires were cut at the downtown Edwardsville Post Office parking lot and a few side streets. This latest incident also follows graffiti that has been spray painted on a number of buildings in the downtown area in recent weeks including the Madison County Courthouse, the former Edwardsville City Hall, the Madison County Historical Society, and a few private businesses. Police are looking at surveillance video to try to identify a suspect and believe the tire slasher from this week is most likely an adult male.
