Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russian armed forces have used cluster munitions in attacks that have caused hundreds of civilian casualties and damaged civilian objects, including homes, hospitals, and schools. The Ukrainian military has not denied credible evidence of its own use of cluster munitions in the conflict and has publicly asked to be supplied with the weapon.
Partners of the coalition are soon to start discussing the proposals from the Ministry of Economy and Communications to support companies. Among these are the expansion of universal electricity service ,and new tax rates. Minister of IT and Foreign Trade Kristjan Järvan (Isamaa) told ERR, in an interview which follows, that if the proposed universal electricity service for domestic customers were to be extended to companies, it may prove more expensive for them than for households.
Coalition partner Isamaa does not agree with Social Protection Minister Signe Riisalo's (Reform) plan to out off to 2025 offering support to large (three or more children) families, up to the age of 23 inclusive. Minister of Jusice Lea Danilson-Järg (Isamaa) says the coalition agreement inked in July does not include any such allowance for a delay, and says she wants the amendment to be written into the Family Benefits Bill, in the process of being amended.
Estonia owning American mobile multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS would force Russia to considerably reassess and rework its attack plans and make it much costlier to attack Estonia and the other Baltic countries, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense Kusti Salm said.
Estonia has been able to obtain more favorable conditions in a forestry and land use plan which is part of the European Union's climate change goals, on the eve of the package being approved, Ministry of the Environment undersecretary Marku Lamp says.
