KATHMANDU May 12: Air pollution in Nepal is starting to worsen again with the increased fire incidents and lack of rain. According to the latest data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Patan, Lalitpur is 176, Kirtipur, Kathmandu 163, Narayani 171 and Dhankuta 155.
KATHMANDU, April 18: Air pollution across the country including the Kathmandu Valley has gone rampant in the past few days, and the condition is expected to remain for three more days.
KATHMANDU, April 15: On the occasion of Bisket Jatra, local residents of Madhyapur Thimi have celebrated Sutha Siya Jatra by playing with sindoor (traditional orange-red coloured vermilion) with joy.
Authorities in Nepal have urged people in major cities, especially children, senior citizens, and persons with breathing problems and heart diseases, to stay indoors after air pollution increased in various parts of the country due to incidents of forest fires.According to the Department of Forest and Environment, polluted air has got accumulated in the Kathmandu Valley.The Department in a statement said that forest fires in 140 locations including in Bara, Parsa and Chitwan have contributed to air pollution at the excessive level in the Valley and in the central and eastern regions of the country.
