The idea is to get maximum people vaccinated and avoid overcrowding. After the BMC announced that it will open vaccination centres in all the 227 divisions of municipal wards, it also added that housing societies can tie-up with private hospitals and dispensaries so that camps could be arranged on their premises. COVID-19 in Mumbai: Daily case figures in HW ward see a drop by 25% ANI H West (HW) ward, which covers the Bandra (West), Khar (West) and Santacruz (West), has seen a dip in its daily COVID-19 cases by 25 per cent. In the second week of April, from April 7 to April 13, the number of cases recorded in this ward daily stood between 400 and 570. However, the tally started to gradually decline in the following week. The ward recorded 400 plus cases on April 14 and April 15. From April 16 to April 21, the number of cases dropped to around 300 cases daily. BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials have attributed the ongoing restrictions to the decline in the case figures. Vinayak Vispute, assistant municipal commissioner and in-charge of HW ward, said that citizens have stopped venturing out and are mostly abiding by the regulations. Covid tests in Mumbai: BMC, Bandra societies get into mass test drive mode (Photo by AFP) To curb the spread of Coronavirus, the BMC is tying up with various resident s associations for conducting mass testing drives in some of the posh Covid-19 hotspots of Mumbai Bandra, Juhu, Versova, Matunga and Mahim. These areas have high growth rate and also is home to some of the affluent residents of Mumbai. Many residents have approached BMC to organise test camps in their neighbourhoods. On Wednesday, BMC is going to initiate a major testing drive at Pali Hill, Bandra. The BMC officials aims to test 2,500-3,000 Mumbaikars from approximately 75 residential buildings and bungalows for free. Madhu Poplai, general secretary of the Pali Hill Resident s Association (PHRA) said that association requested local BMC officials to conduct a test drive in her area.
