KATHMANDU, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) Normal life was crippled on Thursday across Nepal including in the capital Kathmandu as a result of the nationwide general strike called by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the Nepal Communist Party.
The Dahal-Nepal faction, which parted away with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli following the latter s move to dissolve the House of Representatives, called the general strike to protest against the appointment of 32 chairpersons and members in 11 different constitutional commissions on Wednesday without conducting parliamentary hearing.
Though Nepal s constitution makes it mandatory for the parliamentary hearing of the appointees for the constitutional commissions, it was not possible after the dissolution of the House of Representatives on December 20 last year.
I have never failed, says Bagmati province CM Poudel
