Lady Pacers fall in Sectional final, 6-0 to South Ripley
An outstanding season for the Switzerland County Lady Pacer softball team came to a sudden end on Thursday night in the championship game of the Class 2A Sectional #45 which was being played here on the Switzerland County field.
North Decatur
Switzerland County advanced to the Sectional championship game by defeating North Decatur in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 25th, by a score of 6-1.
The Lady Pacers fell behind early as North Decatur scored a run in the first inning; but tied the game in the third.
In that third inning, Maddie Duvall led off with a double, and was then driven in on an RBI by Madesyn Byrd.
Lady Pacer softball: big win over Oldenburg; tough loss to Rising Sun
Last week was the best of times and the worst of times for the Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team.
Oldenburg Academy
On Wednesday, May 12th, the Lady Pacers traveled to Oldenburg to take on the Lady Twisters, and came home on the winning end of a 30-0 blowout.
Switzerland County got one run in the top of the first inning on a home run by Maddie Duvall; and then broke open the flood gates in the top of the second, scoring 11 runs as 15 Switzerland County batters came to the plate.

The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity softball team continued its undefeated season with two more victories last week and another on Monday night. The team’s record now stands at 9-0 on the year.
Southwestern
This past Monday night, April 26th, Lily Sparks hurled another perfect game and Maddie Duvall powered another home run to lead the Lady Pacers to a 12-0 victory over Southwestern in five innings due to the mercy rule.
Sparks was incredible throughout the game, striking out 10 of the 15 batters she faced.
Offensively, Switzerland County got all the runs that they would need in the bottom of the first, as Jessie Duvall led off with a double, and Maddie Duvall plated her sister with an RBI single moments later. Sparks then drew a walk, and Nora Hankins brought home Maddie Duvall on a hard grounder to the shortstop for the RBI. Hailey Sainz then walked, Madesyn Byrd collected a single scoring Sainz, and after one the Lady Pacers led 4-0.
Lily Sparks hurls perfect game, no hitter in Lady Pacer softball victories
Lady Pacer junior Lily Sparks hurled a perfect game on Friday night in a 24-0 five-inning blowout of Shawe Memorial.
Sparks faced 15 batters in the mercy rule-shortened game, striking out 11 Lady Hilltopper batters. It was a dominant performance by the Lady Pacer pitcher, who earned a no-hitter earlier in the week with an 8-0 win over Milan.
But Sparks didn’t just dominate Shawe on the mound, she also went 5-for-5 at the plate with four singles and a double, scoring four runs and having two RBI.
Jessie Duvall also had an explosive night at the plate, blasting a grand slam home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game that was never in doubt.
