Damonte Ranch High School senior Madelyn Spencer s arms were tired.
After an informal band practice on the eve of a very unusual football season, Spencer still doesn t know if she will get a chance to conduct on the field before she graduates in June.
On Wednesday, Spencer and 15 other band students who have played in school bands since elementary school met to talk to the Reno Gazette Journal. They brought their instruments to play for the first time together outside this school year, and to talk about the importance band has had on their lives.
“I imagined my senior marching band season,” said Lainey Gammon, who s played the flute for seven years. “It has always been my favorite thing and I was looking forward to this season.”
