COLUMBUS, Ohio – After winning two NCAA matches in Columbus, the Ohio State women’s tennis team (23-3) now heads to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., site of the NCAA Championships. The No. 15 seed Buckeyes will face No. 2 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of a match between No. 7 Florida State and No. 10 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals Wednesday. The semifinals will be Friday May 21, with the championship Saturday May 22. COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 seed Ohio State women’s tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship, as it downed UIC, 4-0, Friday at the Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus. The Buckeyes, now 22-3 on the year, will face Vanderbilt, which defeated Ball State 4-0 in the first round Friday, at noon Saturday for a spot in the Round of 16. Tournament Central
The Buckeyes won the doubles point and three straight-set singles matches vs. the Flames (19-6). Lucia Marzal and Irina Cantos Siemers won in both singles and doubles, with freshman Madeline Atway’s singles victory clinching the team win. Lisa Hofbauer and Luna Dormet also won in doubles.
Buckeye This and That
Ohio State is 5-2 on the year and opened Big Ten play with wins over Purdue (6-1) and Indiana (7-0) last weekend.
In the two matches last weekend, Lucia Marzal and Lisa Hofbauer each posted 2-0 records in both singles and doubles for the Buckeyes. Kolie Allen, Luna Dormet and Irina Cantos Siemers were all 2-0 in singles and Isabelle Boulais was 2-0 in doubles.
The Buckeyes moved to No. 8 in the ITA Tennis rankings this week (from No. 10). The squad started the year at No. 13.
Against Purdue last Friday, freshman Madeline Atway paired with Isabelle Boulais for a doubles win, marking Atway’s first collegiate doubles dual match victory. Her classmate, Tanisha Kashyap, posted a victory in singles against the Boilermakers for her first collegiate singles dual match win.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team begins dual match play at the new Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus this weekend, hosting four ITA Kickoff Weekend matches.
The Buckeyes (0-0) will take on Syracuse (0-0) at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a match between No. 10 Virginia (0-0) and Tennessee (3-0) at noon. The winners will meet in the championship match at 1 p.m. Sunday, preceded by the consolation match at 10 a.m.
There will be no general public access to the event in Columbus; live scoring and video will be available for all six courts. In addition, Cracked Racquets will be providing play-by-play commentary on its YouTube stream and switching from site to site to create the “RedZone of college tennis” throughout the weekend.
