Dairy sales crash post-Brexit
Sales of dairy products to the EU are down 9% since Brexit, new figures show. With sales of chicken and beef down by almost 80%, the trade barriers in Boris Johnson’s deal have cost exporters more than £1.1bn since the start of the year, according to the Food and Drink Federation. The group says it is “essential” that the UK restarts talks with the EU to resolve the crisis. Johnson has previously rejected an offer from the bloc to align with the EU on food standards.

Syrian teen sues Robinson
A teenager who is suing Tommy Robinson for libel is seeking between £150,000 and £190,000 in damages from him. Jamal Hijazi was filmed being attacked in a Huddersfield playground and had to flee the town after the far-right activist aired “entirely distorted anti-Muslim” claims about him. The Syrian’s lawyer said Robinson had continued to exacerbate the distress caused to the family during the libel trial.

A decision on further funding for the police investigation is pending
Madeleine McCann s parents have reportedly got a fund of more than £750,000 to pay for a private investigation if the police end their search for their daughter.

To date, the police investigation for Madeleine, who was three years old when she went missing in 2007, has cost £12.5 million. The Daily Star reports that a decision is pending as to whether the investigation should get further funding. This would be in the region of £300,000.
The McCann s have apparently been told by the Metropolitan Police that they are continuing to treat the search for Madeleine as a missing person case. Detectives are said to have also told the couple that it is highly unlikely that Christian Brueckner - the man that German investigators have alleged killed Madeleine - will be charged over her disappearance.
What happened to Madeleine McCann?
Madeleine went missing on the evening of May 3, 2007, Praia da Luz, Portugal.
She was just three-years-old and has never been found.
She disappeared from her bed that evening, while her brother and sister slept.
Her parents, doctors Kate and Gerry were at a local restaurant with their friends at the time of the disappearance.

Initially the Portuguese police believed Madeline had accidentally died and her parents had covered it up.
However, her parents used private investigators to try and find their missing daughter.
Later in 2011 Scotland Yard opened their own inquiry – Operation Grange.

urge to get the truth out there. when there s been so many stories written. ultimately, madeleine s fund was running out. i knew that we d need to raise money really to continue the search. so all the money from the brook book is going to the madeleine fund so you can continue to try and find out what happened to her. that s right. gerry, obviously, that is the crux of this, isn t it, for you? absolutely. you just don t know. i m a father of three children. i cannot imagine i can remember my kids disappearing for a minute or two minutes and that awful panic that you feel as a parent when that happens. to be here, years later and have no idea where she is or what may have happened, it must be excruciating, isn t it? it certainly was. and i think one of the reasons we ve had so much public sympathy and empathy is i think every parent does know that
