Softball notebook: Cape Elizabeth, Sanford off to powerful starts First-year coaches at both schools are enjoying their debuts as the Capers and Spartans put up big offensive numbers. Share Cape Elizabeth pitcher Anna Cornell has 36 strikeouts in 15 innings, allowing only five hits and two walks – and she is hitting .733 with one home run and nine RBI. Both the Capers, in Class B South, and the Spartans, in Class A South, are off to 5-0 starts, each team using a potent hitting attack and quality pitching.

In 2019, Bouchard batted .458 with eight doubles, six home runs and 29 RBI. Elly Bourgoine, York junior infield/outfield: Bourgoine had some key hits for the Wildcats in their 2019 run to the Class B state title game, and she’ll ignite the offense from the leadoff spot.
