Duke returns the bulk of its talent from a season ago, headlined by the top draw specialist in the country in Maddie Jenner. With Jenner on the circle, the Blue Devils are accustomed to getting the ball early and often and the talent Duke possesses offensively was putting on a show early in 2020. Insert Gabby Rosenzweig, the Ivy’s top dual-threat attacker to the mix, and an even stronger showing out of Duke seems almost inevitable in 2021.
ATTACK:
All-American Gabby Rosenzweig arrived in Durham this fall, enrolling in the Fuqua School of Business to pursue her masters after a decorated career at Penn came to a close. The All-Ivy attacker is Penn’s career leader in points (247), and single-season leader in points (98 in 2019) and assists (63 in 2019). We are mere days away from the opening day of the 2021 Division I women’s lacrosse season and it feels good to be back.
VCU and Old Dominion kick off the campaign on Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern. And while it’s thrilling to revel in the joys of a new beginning, we must remember (maybe more now than ever) that we shouldn’t project too far ahead.
