Bergschneider recited Mary Carr’s “All This and More” and W.D. Ehrhart’s “Beautiful Wreckage”. Delaney recited Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib’s “No, I wasn’t meant to love and be loved” and Stephen Dunn’s “Propositions”.

Kimball | February 26, 2021 Ever since Amanda Gorman’s acclaimed performance at the 2021 Presidential Inaugural, it seems like poetry is having a moment. And in Central Illinois, too, where Thaddeus Bergschneider and Madden Delaney, both of Franklin High School, will now advance to the State Finals of the Poetry Out Loud contest next month. Ryan Horstman of SHG took third place with a recitation of Poe’s dark, lyrical classic “The Conqueror Worm.” 260 students and 10 teachers in 5 schools began the 2021 Poetry Out Loud season in Central Illinois last fall. Poetry Out Loud in Illinois is a collaborative project of the Illinois Arts Council Agency and seven agencies, each of which hosts a regional contest.  The
