Mohawk Valley CC sophomore Megan O Connell opened up scoring for the Hawks in Game One in the second inning finding the shallow left field gap which sent Maddelyn Hoehn to home plate.
The Hawks found their spark in the 4th inning when freshman Skylar Witzigman capitalized off of a bases loaded opportunity, sending the ball to center field, which scored Kimberly Birmingham and Hoehn who used her agility to step around Monroe s catcher, who had the ball in hand, to dive to home plate. Sophomore Makayla Nadler kept the centerfield ball flying hitting an RBI single run in by Elena Caliccha to give MVCC a 4-0 lead.
