how long can the democratic party and lawmakers be the party of no ? even if you don t like the proposal it is the white house and republicans putting something on the table. democrats have realized that even though they have a strong position in the shutdown because polling shows people blame the president and republicans for shutting down the government, they realize they cannot stand in place and not take active measures to try to make sure they are showing the american public they believe in border security, they are not the party of no. they are not the party of open borders. they are trying to make sure the american people know they are putting forward bills to open up the government. you will see bills this week that add money for border security, not for the wall but make sure they are putting forward a plan to shore up the border, the ports of entry, add more judges, things like that

we re in the same ballpark between the white house proposal and our proposal. your second point, this is not an appropriations bill. so what we try to do is set the policy framework to have smart technology-based border security measures. but as the budget process goes forward, the appropriators in the house and senate will likely add home land security funding to this. that is just always part of our process. but to add money to the bill at this point doesn t make a lot of sense when we have the budget that is also being discussed. so that s the more appropriate vehicle to add sensible measures from the financial side. congressman, as i m sure you ve heard, the president said we shouldn t refer to the 2 million people as dreamers. he said there are dreamers who were born here. that s who should be called dreamers. and they should be called daca people. what s your response? well, i m not you can file that under one of the places the
a couple of other programs, fir fisa, the foreign intelligence courts issue. they want to add money to veterans programs. add money to the department of defense. they ll probably do a separate bill to deal with disaster funding for puerto rico, texas and florida. and then they re hoping to get out of town and not let this moment go to waste here. now, democrats have some cards here. they can make this politically painful for republicans. they can make republicans gather their votes among their own caucus to spend this money, which is not something republicans like to do on their own. it seems that everyone is relatively willing as we stand here at 9:00 in the morning on thursday to take this break here now and come back and start deal with these more complicated issues like daca and keeping the government open for the rest of the fiscal year when they come back in january. yet another short-term fix. garrett haake, i know you ll keep us posted. attorney general jeff sessions lookin
they re going straight to tax reform. tomorrow they will roll out the general framework of that plan. it is really interesting to hear. given the very high approval ratings the president got for that deal he made with democrats. considering how thrilled he was by deal, and yet they still decided to give one more shot at repeal and replace. there was a bipartisan effort to stabilize the insurance markets. add money to try to stabilize their area. they would get some flexibility in terms of obamacare regulations. that was kid because repeal and replace came back. while that will almost certainly, at least democrats would like the stabilize the markets, the idea that senate republican leaders would put that on the floor. given that they want no part of fixing obamacare, it is a long shot. when you talk to aides, tax reform is the goal, the ultimate
