Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has hailed the induction of Kamala Harris, first female Vice President of the United States, as a big inspiration for women everywhere.
On yesterday, January 20, 2021, the United States of America (USA) saw the historic induction of the female Vice President Kamala Harris into office with President Joe Biden to head the nation’s governmental affairs for the next four years.
In a message posted on her Facebook Page, Senator Lawrence said: “America is a world’s super power. It’s politics and political leadership have been dominated by men. Kamala’s historic win represents not only a statement for the moment but a sea change in possibility for women political leadershiip globally.”

PAYOWI Validates strategic plan for next 3 years
The Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWWI) has climaxed a 2-day intensive retreat intended to enhance the understanding of young women and leaders on advocacy and activism.
The 2-day retreat, held on December 21 and 22, 2020 in Monrovia, targeted 25 people which included adolescent girls, and leaders who continue to volunteer with the Paramount Young Women Initiative.
PAYOWI intends to equip young women and adolescent girlsâ mentors and leaders with the understanding and tools for mentoring through transformative leadership.
PAYOWI Executive Coordinator, Facia Harris, said the retreat aimed to help young women mentors and mentees reflect on mentoring and leading in the new dimensions of the coronavirus. The retreat also sought to provide opportunities for women leaders and mentors and adolescent girls to network, and broaden their base on transformative leadership principles.

Some womenâs right advocacy organizations have called on President George M. Weah to exercise the political will to investigate violent circumstances surrounding the leading senatorial candidate in Gbarpolu County, Madam Botoe Kanneh, and to ensure that she participates freely in the re-run electoral process in Nomodatonau without intimidation or threat from the traditional Poro Master otherwise referred to as âCountry Devil.â
The senatorial election in Gbarpolu County is at a standstill and there is a need for re-run because a town chief of the town allegedly seized the ballot boxes and the poro master was ordered to come to town. Whenever the poro master comes to the town, women and males who are non-members are forced to be locked up in their houses as the master and members of the poro society implement whatever they are in the town for. This means that the female candidate, Kanneh Gbotoe, will not access the ballot boxes already in th
