During the annual Town & Gown celebration in October, Western Illinois University Director of Student Life Jessica Butcher and Steve Silberer were awarded with the 2023 Town & Gown Award and the 2023 Honorary Alumnus Award, respectively. The awards were given to them in recognition of their service to WIU and the Macomb community.
The 16th annual Celebrating Town & Gown event will be held Thursday, Oct. 5. The signature event brings together the Western Illinois University and Macomb communities, features the latest Rocky on Parade Unveiling and kicks off the 2023 WIU Homecoming activities. The event is hosted by WIU and the city of Macomb.
The Performing Arts Society (PAS) at Western Illinois University will host "Arts Smarts Trivia" at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at The Macomb Dining Company in downtown Macomb, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Mary Matson of Galesburg is credited as the creative force behind the Calico Cat, Landmark Café, Packinghouse Dining Company and more. She died Oct. 5.
