They said the peak times of congestion is between 2 – 6 p.m.
Drivers have come from across Michigan and other states to spend their holiday weekend in the Upper Peninsula.
“We’re just out here just chilling and just looking at sites and doing tours and stuff and just hanging out by the lake,” said Olesia Gavrilova, who was visiting from the Grand Rapids area with her family.
During the drive, it heavier traffic becomes more and more noticeable the further they head North.
“It was pretty bad,” said Connor Alguire. “The rush hour on the way up here was a little much but after around 8 it got a lot better.”
