Realistic Free Agent Options for the Steelers By steelerfan11 on Dec 18, 2020, 9:11am EST +
I wish Flip Fisher was still around to give us his explanations on the salary cap, because this is not going to be a fun offseason if you are Omar Khan. With the salary cap potentially going down and the Steelers having a ton of big-time players up for contracts, we are going to have to find some value in free agency to make up for the losses.
Bud Dupree is as good as gone, but the Steelers will have a promising second year pro in Alex Highsmith to replace him. I would expect us to either add someone in the middle rounds of the draft or add someone via free agency as depth. I was clamoring for the Steelers to trade for Pittsburgh native Chase Winovich when the Patriots were having a fire sale at the trade deadline. We ll see what New England does this offseason, but even if Winovich is off the table, there are some intriguing names in free agency.
