39.00 led by junior Nicholas Alexander, senior Travis Collins, sophomore Edward Sumler IV and freshman Shaun Maswanganyi.

UH cross country posts strong performance in its lone meet

In its lone meet of the cross country season before the American Athletic Conference Championships in February, the Houston cross country team put together a series of strong performances that resulted in a second-place finish for the men’s team and a third-place finish for the women’s team at the Houston Baptist/Lamar Triangular at HBU.
Junior Devin Vallejo-Bannister led the way for the men’s side, posting a second-place finish in the men’s 5K with a time of 16:08.90.
UH track and field opens 2021 with H-Town Speedcity Series

The Houston track and field season is underway after hosting the first of four H-Town Speedcity Series meets at Yeoman Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The home-opener was accompanied by great performances from the Cougars, finishing the meet with nine first-place finishes throughout the events.
Junior Triston Gibbons was the first athlete to place first in an event, recording a shot of
17.99 meters in the men’s shot put.
