A new action plan is out aimed at attracting more people to northern Ontario.
The report follows six days of meetings last February between more than 300 high profile individuals representing some 100 organizations.
The document lays out short, medium, and long-term objectives and identifies 16 core themes and 18 separate action items to make Ontario’s Northern Regions more welcoming.
Five key points came out of the meetings; “We need a plan. We need a brand. We need to work together. We need people to provide services, not websites. We need to monitor and update the plan, every year.

The MP for Kenora is critical for how long it’s taking to get the COVID-19 vaccine to local residents.
Eric Melillo says the federal government has to do a better job of vaccinating people faster.
“This is primary focus for me and my party moving forward and we are urging the government to take action and ensure we can acquire more vaccines and have them distributed across the country.
Melillo says the quicker we can get people vaccinated, the faster our economy can start to recover.
The Conservative says other countries like the United States, Israel and the United Kingdom are vaccinating their population up to three times faster than Canada is.

Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade is encouraging all business owners to apply today for the new Small Business Support Grant.
Vic Fedeli says the program helps those who have been forced to close their doors or reduce operations during COVID-19 shutdowns.
“This is above and beyond the NOHFC grants that Minister Rickford announced and closed before Christmas. You can have both. This is a brand new program that you can stack on top of anything else you’ve received.”
Fedeli says you must show your April 2019 financial’s and compare them to April 2020 when the first lockdown occured.
A missing Rainy River area man has been located.
Provincial Police say they have found 36 year old Gerhard Penner of Dawson.
He was last seen leaving the community on January 13 and was reported missing Sunday.
