Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard police were called to reports of a disorder in Royal Wootton Bassett’s High Street on September 12 last year. When they arrived officers spoke to Macauley Taylor, who had been out that evening with his friends. As the officers tried to establish what had happened, the 25-year-old landscape gardener headbutted the window of the Co-op store causing the glass to crack. Taylor then headbutted one of the officers, a PC Kilburn, as he was being walked to the police car. In a statement read to the court, the constable said he was not seeking compensation. “All I want is for Mr Taylor to understand assaulting a police officer is totally unacceptable,” he said.
