In 1980, Bill Lee started work on his dream: an eco-friendly and self-sufficient home on Cape Romano on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It took three years and a lot of hard work, but by 1982 he had built himself a home able to sustain hurricane-force winds. The house included solar panels, a well-thought-out gutter system that allowed rainfall to be used as running water inside.

Police Minister Bheki Cele and senior members of SAPS are out at various beaches in Cape Town to monitor and enforce Covid-19 regulations.
Minister Cele will be accompanied by SAPS management for a day-long visit to various beaches in Cape Town on Wednesday 16 December 2020 (Day of Reconciliation).
Capetonians traditionally flock to the beach on Reconciliation Day, but this year things may be different with tighter Covid-19 regulations.
Cape Town beaches are only open from 9am until 6pm and strict social distancing measures will be enforced.

Residents in the Western Cape were left breathing a sigh of relief on Monday evening when President Cyril Ramaphosa exempted the province from strict new Covid-19 rules applying to the country s beaches.
Revealing the latest measures being implemented in response to the second wave, Ramaphosa closed beaches in the Eastern Cape, Garden Route, and KwaZulu-Natal.
Speaking to CapeTalk s John Maytham on Wednesday the City of Cape Town s Richard Bosmas clarified what the position is in the Western Cape.
In the Northern Cape and Western Cape, all beaches that are open to the public shall be open between 9am and 6pm.
