We have hurricane warnings out right now just north of West Palm Beach to north of melbourne. We have hurricane watches up to the florida georgia border. Weve even got Tropical Storm watches for inland parts of florida. Now, this is a very very weak Steering Systems with this. So what is going to steer this . What weve got, this ridge of High Pressure that was right, stretched all the way across from the mid plains all the way out into the atlantic. Im George Howell. The cnn newsroom starts now. At 5 00 a. M. Here on the u. S. East coast, we start with this big monster storm thats headed this way. Hurricane dorian, a massive storm that is gaining strength as we speak, headed toward the state of florida. Heres the latest update that just came in. Dorian is described as an extremely dangerous category 4 storm. Right now, it has maximum sustained winds of 140 miles or 220 kilometers per hour. Its still unclear exactly where the storm will make landfall. Right now, it is projected to hit another melbourne, florida, on tuesday and go up the coastline. Again, lets take a look from space just to see how large the storm is. This is the view from the International Space station. Dorian is still at least a day away from the bahamas where hurricane warnings and evacuation orders are already in effect.
