A Sunamganj court yesterday granted bail to a local Jubo League leader from Tahirpur, hours after he was detained for allegedly writing about Hefajat leader Mamunul Haque on Facebook.
Meanwhile in Kushtia, an assistant sub inspector of police was suspended for defending Mamunul on Facebook.
Emad Ahmed Joy, 38, the Liberation War affairs secretary of Tahirpur Upazila Jubo League, was detained on Sunday night. He was released after he got bail.
Contacted, Abdul Latif Tarafdar, officer-in-charge at Tahirpur Police Station, said, Police detained him to avoid clashes and undesired situation in the area. He committed a cognisable offence.
