Cedar Rapids Xavier junior Jack Foster was so unsatisfied with how his first season of varsity went that he devoted more time to clubs and competing in the offseason. He’s reaping the rewards now. Foster won the 126-pound title Saturday at the North Linn Lynx Invitational.
North Linn senior Cael Bridgewater wants to score lots of points and make his final season fun. He captured the 138-pound title at the Lynx Invitational Saturday, scoring 58 total match points in three technical falls. Benton edged Cedar Rapids Xavier in the team race.

Long time Brandon Valley athletic director Randy Marso is retiring at the end of the school year. Marso has held the position in the school district for 23 years.
Prior to taking over the athletic director position, Marso taught for 11 years at Brandon Valley and also served as an assistant and head coach for the girls basketball team and track and field teams. He was also an assistant boys basketball coach on the team that won the Class AA title in 1998.
The 58-year old said although he’s retiring, he and his wife Lisa will remain in Brandon. Lisa is an attorney in Sioux Falls. One of her clients is the city of Brandon.
