At the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, impeccable interfacing is required to capture the diverse array of genres, instruments, orchestras and voices. With ten years of excellence under its belt, the Lynx Hilo interface has proven itself as the unrivalled centre of the academic institution’s audio set-up. Serving as both interface, monitor controller and top-tier mix/mastering stereo AD/DA.

I use the A-weighted AES17 dynamic range figure as a general guide to converter quality as a good number requires excellence in all aspects of the design and implementation, and it seems to correspond closely to my listening perceptions.
The Cranbourne s D-A scored 120.7dB and I listed in the review some of the high-end devices with comparable scores, but to give you a bigger picture the best D-A I ve measured to date scored 129dB and the worst 104dB. The Dangerous Music D-box+ scored a surprising 107dB, the Burl B2 114.5dB, and the Lynx Hilo 120.5dB.
