The Scripps National Spelling Bee has appointed J. Michael Durnil, Ph.D. – an accomplished national nonprofit leader who has dedicated his recent work to helping at-risk children pursue their dreams through education – as executive director, effective immediately.
In this role, Dr. Durnil will lead all aspects of the Bee s year-round educational program and will build additional opportunities for the iconic and mission-focused brand to connect with and inspire audiences across the country.
