With Vietnam War veterans now dominating flights, the board and volunteers are shifting their mentality to better serve a generation whose experiences were a sharp departure from veterans in previous wars.
When the 50th Eastern Iowa Honor Flight takes off May 1, it will be named in honor of World War II veteran and philanthropist Myron “Mike” Wilson, who, with his late wife, Esther, contributed millions to area arts, social services and recreation organizations.
