Had you gone to Dublin star Lyndsey Davey only a few short years ago and told her the good times were just around the corner, she wouldn t have believed you.
At one point in her career, her All-Ireland final record read like a tale of heartbreak. She had won one and lost five, some of them in the most cruel of ways. It seemed like time and time again Cork stood in the way.
The victory of 2010 was starting to feel like it would be the only time they d get over the line. And on the steps of the Hogan Stand, she marvelled at the turnaround in her career that had seen her win a fifth All-Ireland medal. It was also a third successive championship campaign that Mick Bohan s Dubs beat their old rivals from Munster.

Dublin s Lyndsey Davey and Siobhan McGrath celebrate after the victory against Cork
Dublin attacker Lyndsey Davey says composure was key to this evening’s All-Ireland SFC final victory over Cork.

We were very frustrated at half-time, Davey told RTE Sport afterwards. We just weren t clinical in executing our scores. It was a lack of composure, three scores out of 12 chances. We knew we were getting the chances but we just were taking them.
